Wellbeing

Support for our Students

Melville High School Youth Outreach Worker - Student Support Officer (SSO) has professional experience working with families and young people to improve their wellbeing, mental health in and out of school environments. Melville High School SSO is a fulltime, non-teaching, school based staff member who supports the implementation of the whole-of-school approach to wellbeing, with a focus on early interventions.

Our SSO assist students in developing their social and emotional skills through strengths based programs and strategies that build resilience, coping skills and positive relationships, which enhances the learning outcomes of students.

As a member of the wellbeing team, the SSO works closely with all school roles particularly the Principal, Deputy Principals and School Counsellors.

Our SSO will be able to connect students to the School Counselling service through the school referral processes.

Our SSO provides wellbeing support for students who are experiencing challenges at school or home, through small groups sessions or individual support.

Our SSO collaborates with external and other government agencies, creating pathways for students and families to access the support needed.
